FMS Front Office Policies

1.  Picture IDs (i.e. driver's license) are required for checking out a student.  We realize that we do know some of you, but for fairness and the safety and security of our students we plan to ask everyone to show this information before we will officially release your child.

2.  Only persons listed on your child's emergency card are allowed to sign a student out of school.  If you need to have someone other than those listed on your child's emergency card pick up  your child, they will need to provide a written permission note signed by you as the parent and dated the day being signed out.  We will accept a faxed copy at 671-7048, but cannot accept verbal permission over the phone.

3.  According to Knox County Schools Transportation Policy, students are not to ride any bus other than the one assigned to the student unless authorized by one of the principals.  The rare exception would be for an emergency where the parent has exhausted all avenues of transportation for getting their child safely home.  Whether or not there is room on the bus being requested will be at the discretion of the bus company.

4.  In an attempt to reduce the high volume of classroom interuptions we have been experiencing on a daily basis, the office staff will refrain from calling students out of class to pick up forgotton items such as homework or lunches.  If your child has trained you to become a rescuing parent for these things they will know to stop in at some point during the day to see if the items have been dropped off.

5.  Please help us stay aware of any changes in your family's circumstances such as moving, divorce, and/or custody issues, family sicknesses, and so forth.  We really do wish to be as supportive as possible in helping our students enjoy a happy and successful school experience.  A utility statement is needed for our records should you change your place of residence.  Also, if there is a change of custody or parenting plans, we would need a copy of whatever information is pertinent to the school's involvement with your child.
